On December 9, 1915, Kesagake appears again. He entered the Ota family home, at which time the farmer's wife was alone caring for her baby. The bear attacked the baby, kill him, then chase the baby's mother. He tried to defend himself by throwing firewood, but was eventually dragged into the woods by a bear. When people come in, they found an empty house with floors and walls covered in blood. Thirty people went into the forest, determined to kill the bear and bring the bodies of the poor woman. They found Kesagake and shot him again, but failed to kill him. The animal ran away and they found the woman's body had been partially eaten and partially buried under the snow, where the bear store it for later consumption.

The bear was later returned to the Ota family farms, and armed guards were sent afterwards. But this makes the other houses in the village were not protected, and Kesagake take advantage of this, attacked the family home Miyoke and injuring everyone in it. Although some people managed to escape, two children were killed and so was a pregnant woman, who according to witnesses who survived, pleading for the life of her unborn baby when a large bear it forward to attack. Of course, it was all in vain; Kesagake kill him as well. When the guards realized their mistake and returned home Miyoke, they found the bodies of two children, the woman and the fetus she is carrying all lying on the floor full of blood. In two days, Kesagake killed six people. The villagers fear and most of the guards left their posts for fear.

A famous bear hunter told about the incident and he identified the bear as Kesagake and told that the bear had been killed before the attack Sankebetsu. At first he refused to participate in the hunt, but eventually he joined the group, and on December 14, he was the one who finally killed Kesagake. The bear was nearly three meters and weighing 380 kg. Human remains found in his stomach. Terrible incident did not end there; some survivors of the attack died of their wounds. One of the victims drowned in the river. This region was soon abandoned by villagers and became a ghost town. Even today, incidents of animal attacks Sankebetsu remains the worst in Japan's history, and one of the most brutal of history.
